The Our America Foundation’s OCR complaint against the University of D.C. (UDC) has generated a significant amount of media attention. Our complaint stems from UDC’s discriminatory cancellation of our planned debate on the American Dream.

Recently, our complaints was the focus of a Fox News op-ed authored by Chicago-based Pastor Corey Brooks.

Pastor Brooks slammed UDC’s blatant censorship of what should have been an important debate.

As he stated in the op-ed, “This is nothing more than protecting the ‘victim narrative’ that has been in place in America for the last 60 years. Do we really believe that Blacks and other minorities are so fragile that they cannot listen to a debate about the American Dream?”

Pastor Brooks is a community leader who leads several initiatives among local youth. As he stated in the op-ed, he’s made it his mission to promote the American Dream.

When kids throw back in my face that the American Dream is dead, I tell them to look at what God gave them: two feet that can go anywhere, two hands that can make anything, a mouth that can move worlds, two eyes that can see possibility, and a brain that can dream up a life for oneself. I tell them that America is the land where they can put all of God’s gifts to work and make themselves into somebodies.”

We wholeheartedly agree with Pastor Brooks’ assertion that debates about the American Dream “need to happen everywhere” and that “we must push back” against anyone who tries to stop them.

Pastor Brooks has an influential following, and we’re delighted he raised awareness about our fight against censorship.

The American Dream is open to all Americans, and we must be willing to fight for it. You can read the full op-ed here.
