Over 60 Hometown Heroes attended an enthusiastic kick-off rally for Our America’s Tucson chapter on September 3rd.
This well attended and lively event started off with a video presentation from our National Director Gabriel Nadales, who provided background on Our America and discussed our new American First initiative.
The rally was coordinated to help increase voter participation in the CD-7 special congressional and Tucson City Council elections.
Several candidates came forward to share their perspectives, including Daniel Butierez running in CD-7, and Tucson City Council Candidates JL Wittenbraker and Jay Tolkoff.
We also allowed candidates to speak who are running in the 2026 Arizona legislative election, including Olivia Gaxiola (LD 18 House of Representatives), Bob Dohse (LD-18 House of Representatives) and Doug Everett (LD-18 Senate).
Of note, all of the candidates running in 2026 are Our America Hometown heroes. They’ve truly taken our core pillar on civic engagement to the next level by running for office themselves, and we wish them the best of luck.
Tara Maldonado-Oster with Ganamos Tucson also gave a presentation on getting out the vote and how to volunteer.
Below are some pictures from the event.

Many thanks to Tucson Chapter Leader Nick Pierson who worked tirelessly to ensure this rally was a major success.
If the first event is any indication, the Tucson chapter will be a thriving component of Our America for years to come.
