Our America Wins Big in 2024

Cost of Living

December 16, 2024

As the year comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on Our America’s Big Wins of the past year –  hard fought victories for freedom and common sense. As a Hometown Hero, your passion, creativity, and drive is at the heart of every one of these achievements. Working together for shared common values, we are keeping the American Dream alive.

Fighting for Safer Communities

On April 16, 2024, Arizona Gov.  Katie Hobbs signed SB 1411 into law, creating a Retail Theft Task Force to tackle out-of-control crime in Arizona. Hometown Heroes led the charge, working with law enforcement and partners to push the bill through a divided legislature. Through grassroots efforts, including calls, emails, and public testimony, Hometown Heroes played a pivotal role in securing bipartisan support and ensuring the bill’s passage, making Arizona safer for all.

Helping Struggling Families

In some of the most rural parts of the country, food insecurity is a constant issue. In Marana, Arizona, Our America’s Hometown Heroes helped Dr. Emil Tompkins with his Thanksgiving Food Drive, distributing hundreds of turkeys and meal baskets to local families.

“He is an amazing man who has been recognized as a blessing to the community,” Our America Arizona State Grassroots Director Paul Parisi said.

These efforts reflect Our America’s commitment to helping families and fostering stronger communities.

Expanding Our Safer Street Brighter Futures Campaign

Criminal justice reform is central to Our America’s mission because it affects all of us. To address this, Our America returned to Tucson with its “Safer Streets, Brighter Futures” campaign and expanded the effort to Phoenix, Arizona, and Atlanta, Georgia. In each city, dozens of Hometown Heroes filled the seats inside the city councils, delivering a powerful message with one united voice: communities need stronger support for law enforcement, increased funding, and a commitment to safer streets and brighter futures for all.

Determining Balance of Power in the U.S. House

On November 14, 2024, the Wall Street Journal reported that Arizona Congressman Juan Ciscomani’s (AZ-06) re-election secured Republicans the 218 seats needed for a House majority. Our America, proudly endorsed Rep. Ciscomani, who made history as the first naturalized American from Mexico to serve in the U.S. House from Arizona.

“Your impact was tremendous,” said Rep. Ciscomani after his victory was announced. “Your efforts made a real difference.”

Every phone call made, door knocked on, and postcard sent mattered and helped move the needle,” he added. “Consistency and grassroots efforts like those of Our America were crucial. I’m incredibly grateful and look forward to working with you in the years ahead,” Ciscomani concluded in an interview with Our America’s Communications Director Catherine Mortensen.

Our America’s impact in 2024 has been significant, from advancing criminal justice reform to supporting communities and shaping political outcomes. Thanks to our dedicated Hometown Heroes, we continue to make a meaningful difference in the fight for the American Dream.
