Minorities Support Candidates Who Speak the Language Opportunity

A member of the Our America Board of Directors John Tillman is featured in a Washington Times guest column explaining that President Donald Trump won a historic level of support from minority voters because he spoke the language of opportunity.

Instead of writing them off and letting liberals get away with their usual playbook of identity politics, Mr. Trump made a simple pitch to minority voters: I will help you climb the ladder of opportunity.
It worked. Mr. Trump won 45% of Hispanics and 54% of Hispanic men — a massive improvement over his 2016 performance of 28% and 32%, respectively. Among Asians, his support grew by 11 percentage points, while 20% of Black men backed him, up from 13% over the past eight years.

At Our America we know that minority voters, like ALL Americans, want a fair shot at achieving the American Dream. We are a nation built on shared values, including hard work, freedom of religion, speech & thought, safe communities, and fair, open, & honest elections.

We also know that the voters who switched political loyalties in this election, could just as easily return to their former loyalties if leaders don’t deliver. That’s why Our America is committed to a bipartisan agenda of reforms that has broad support from a diverse coalition of voters – the very ones who shifted the balance of power across the country in November.
