Atlanta was known as “the city too busy to hate.” Today, many businesses are shuttering and many are now too afraid to leave their homes as violence surges unchecked.

Violent crime has surged over the past few years. Between 2019 and 2021, homicides in Atlanta jumped 60%. Assault crimes have climbed 20% in just two years. On average, a gun is stolen from a vehicle every 48 hours. And car thefts are up a shocking 52% over the past three years.

As cities fail to promote safety, they fail to build ties which bind communities together, instead creating a culture of fear and distrust among Americans. Consider these troubling facts: between 2019 and 2021, Atlanta saw a 60% increase in homicides; aggravated assault crimes have climbed 20% in two years; on average, a gun is stolen from a vehicle every 48 hours; and car thefts are up 52% over the past three years.

We cannot accept this status quo.

That’s why Our America is supporting the immediate construction of the Public Safety Training Center, unfairly dubbed“cop city”. The Public Safety Training Center will help firefighters, EMT, police officers and other first responders train and to ensure they can serve all citizens with care, justice and accountability. With state-of-the-art de-escalation and use-of-force training, a mock village for scenario exercises, and leading-edge tools to address mental health crises humanely, the Center will equip our police force with the skills expected of them. It’ll offer tangible, actionable solutions to address Atlanta’s crime crisis.

Yet radical progressive activists – many from outside Georgia – are intent on killing this vital public safety project before it gets off the ground. They have brought in outside funding and protesters, spreading misinformation about the public safety center to try to turn public opinion against it. Concerned Atlanta residents who value their right to safe neighborhoods cannot let a loud extremist minority drown out their voices.

That’s why we need your support to make sure the Atlanta Public Safety Center gets built.

If you believe Atlanta’s streets have become too dangerous, join Our America’s FREE Hometown Heroes movement today. Our America is building a grassroots presence in Georgia to make good on the promise of justice, dignity, safer streets and brighter futures for every Atlanta resident. The destiny of Atlanta is in our hands.
