On Aug. 12, Lilburn, Georgia, a town known for its rich history and diverse community, hosted the lively “Festival de la Familia” at Plaza de Las Americas. This vibrant event, organized by VPORCOLOMBIA, celebrated Colombian culture and drew hundreds of attendees, including Our America.

VPORCOLOMBIA, a nonprofit dedicated to showcasing Colombian heritage and supporting humanitarian projects, brought together people to experience Colombian values, performances, and cuisine. For Our America, this festival was more than just an opportunity to enjoy the festivities—it was a chance to reach out to communities striving for the American Dream who have long been denied opportunities by those undermining their sense of community.

By participating in the festival, Our America was able to connect with individuals and families passionate about building a better future. It was a meaningful way to engage with those eager to make their mark and to share our commitment to supporting their dreams. The event also provided a platform to discuss how we can work together to overcome barriers and create opportunities for all.

The festival’s proceeds went toward student scholarships for the Atlanta metro area, aligning with Our America’s dedication to educational advancement. Supporting these scholarships is a powerful way to invest in the next generation, offering them the chance to achieve their dreams through hard work and determination.

The energy and excitement at the festival were truly uplifting. It was a wonderful reminder of the strength of community and the impact of coming together to support one another. For Our America, it reaffirmed our mission to foster opportunities for those who have been overlooked and to celebrate their efforts toward achieving the American Dream.

Every scholarship awarded is a step closer to a brighter future for our youth. The “Festival de la Familia” was a joyful celebration of culture and community, and our participation underscored Our America’s commitment to making a positive difference, one American at a time.
