Our America is backing four nominees to key positions in the new administration who are committed to fighting for the values our broad and diverse coalition share, including freedom of speech, thought, and religion, safe communities, and an economy which will give ALL Americans a fair shot at achieving the American Dream.
Scott Turner, nominated to serve as Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, is a former NFL player and Texas state lawmaker. He is a visionary leader who, as Executive Director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council in the first Trump administration, led more than 200 policy actions to revitalize economically distressed communities.
In his recent senate hearing, Turner said, “This opportunity is very personal to me. You see, I grew up a kid in Plano and Richardson, Texas who worked as a dishwasher at Spring Creek Barbeque, who early in his childhood, his family was broken due to divorce, with the odds stacked against him. Who overcame adversity and bucked the status quo to attend and graduate from college. Who, in spite of being drafted in the 7th round, went on to have a successful career in the National Football League. Who went on to serve in the Texas State Legislature, which was a great honor. And work in the White House to advance the Opportunity Zone initiative.
“As I sit before you today, I am humbled by the call to serve my country,” Turner concluded.
Lori Chavez-DeRemer, nominated to serve as Secretary of the Department of Labor, is a former Oregon Congresswoman, who is committed to helping ALL Americans achieve the American Dream. Prior to serving in Congress, Chavez-DeRemer was a two-term mayor of Happy Valley, Oregon. Under her leadership, the city became the state’s fastest-growing community, with initiatives that strengthened working families and small businesses. As a business owner, herself, Chavez-DeRemer is passionate about advocating for businesses, workers, and families across the country.
Kelly Loeffler, nominated to serve as Administrator of the Small Business Administration, is a good friend of Our America. After her senate service, Loeffler founded Greater Georgia Action, an election integrity advocacy and voter registration non-profit, as well as RallyRight, a conservative tech startup – while serving on several corporate and philanthropic boards. Loeffler is an entrepreneur and business leader who will bring her experience in business and Washington to reduce red tape and unleash opportunity for America’s small business owners to grow, innovate, and thrive.
In nominating Harmeet Dhillon to serve as the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the Department of Justice, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, “Dhillon has consistently protected civil liberties throughout her career, including taking on Big Tech for censoring free speech, representing Christians who were not allowed to pray together during the COVID-19 pandemic, and suing corporations who use woke policies to discriminate against their employees.
“Harmeet is one of the top election lawyers in the country, fighting to ensure that all, and ONLY, legal votes are counted. Harmeet is a respected member of the Sikh religious community,” Trump added. “In her new role at the DOJ, Harmeet will be a tireless defender of our Constitutional Rights and will enforce our Civil Rights and Election Laws FAIRLY and FIRMLY.”
